**WHEN YOU WERE THERE***
Episode 5
(The braided hair.)
Kester quickly rushed and opened the door as if he was praying for someone to knock or expecting the knock.

It was Kester's talkative neighbor.

He needed a lighter to on his cooking gas.

Kester tries to introduce some talking to delay him since he was good with talking but the neighbor seems to be in a hurry today.

Guy, I need your lighter please, he asked, standing at the door.
How far man, you go Church so? Kester forwarded.

Guy, leave that question for another day, give me lighter, I dey hurry . He said stretching forth his hand.
Because you don born again now, you no go allow person hear word.
Abi you no get lighter? Shey you bin dey smoke last  year? He continued.

Now Kester becomes so uncomfortable by the turn out of the conversation, so he rushed in quickly and handed over the lighter to him.

    Mona heard their conversation.

Kester was not sure if Mona heard it, and was not ready to answer her questions If she heard, even though he never intended to lie too.

Sorry,
Kester apologized as he came in and sat down.

You where going to tell me something Kester,
Mona said, ignoring his apologizes.
And Kester sighed for a relief,
Hopefully she didn't hear our conversation, Kester thought.

Kester!
Are you there?
Mona called out, looking observantly at him.

By the way, what is this guy talking about? Mona asked
Flipping through the magazine in her hand.

     Who???
Kester asked, as his heart almost jumped out.
Who 's  guy???
He repeated.

The writer of this magazine, Mona responded. The title is alarming,
she continued,
"The unfortunate bride?"
Mona added, looking at the magazine.

    Oh!
Oh! Ehmmm!
Yes na, yes!
Kester said, trying to adjust and sighing for a relief.

   Kester, are you OK?
Mona asked again.

You have been acting strange since we met again.
And I was thinking,
That guy said something about smoking.
You ever smoked?
I thought you told me that you got saved before you came into campus,?
Mona asked.

Kester knew he was in a very big mess.
Mona is naturally very inquisitive and she would ask the least expected question.

Mona, can we get back to what we were saying before??
Kester pleaded.

Kester don't want his past to be revealed this way but he was certain that Mona would push further.

    Nah!
Nah! Nah! Mona said, shaking her head.
Kester you know me OK, so just tell me.
It's not a bad thing if you smoked before you got saved, everybody have a past, I just want to know if am your elder sister in The Lord,
Mona teased.

How old are you now in the faith?
Mona asked, sipping her milk.

About 6 month, Kester replied, turning his face aside.
Kester was tired of pushing because he was certain Mona will have her way.

    Mona giggled and got chocked.

She started coughing.

Kester didn't say a word.

     You are joking right???
Mona said, eying Kester with one eye and smiling.

No! And that was part of what I wanted to tell you.
Kester replied.

    I don't understand!
I have known you now for about 2 years and I met you a believer, you fell back to sin or what???
Mona said, looking serious.

   No!
No Mona!
Kester said, standing up.
That wasn't me,
Kester continued without allowing Mona to interrupt.

I was never born again!
I was not saved at any time!
It was all fake!
 I lied!
I pretended!
Mona I even......

 Stop!
Mona interrupted.

Stop please,!
Kester stop!
If this is a joke, then trust me, its not funny and that's why am not laughing.
Mona responded, getting up.

Mona can you please be quiet for once!
Kester pleaded and continued,
Ignoring Mona's action.

I actually got saved 5 months ago,
Kester tried to continue, but Mona cuts in again.

Don't shut me up Kester!
Don't you dare!
Mona flared up.

Do you know exactly how it feels to be lied to, and deceived for so long?
By someone you thought was a friend?
Do you??
Mona questioned as tears began to roll down her chick uncontrollable.

   I know!
And that's why am sorry.
Kester tried to continue but Mona was already screaming.

Shut up!
Shut up!
Just shut up!
What more lies do you want to feed me with??

You are a pathetic liar!
Mona said and landed Kester a very hot slap as he tries to touch her.

Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me,
All this  while,  I thought you were saved.
I trusted you.
My God!
How come I didn't see through you?
You are good!
Mona exclaimed with her hands up the air.

Kester quickly knelt down, and this time, he could not control his tears.

You can call me all bad names in the world, but please, I can't do this another time!
Now that I can, please hear me out.
Kester sobs.
There is more I need to tell you,
Please!
Kester said, this time, crying like a baby.

No! There's nothing more you need to say!
Am obviously in the wrong place.
Mona said and walked away, slamming the door so hard and leaving Kester on his knees.

Immediately Mona left, there was a knock on the door.

Kester just sat there on the floor, sobbing and ignored the knock.

The door opened and it was Kester's fellowship president.

The sight he caught made him ran to Kester.

   Brother Paul!
He called out!
 Are you alright?
Why are you on the floor?
Why are you crying?
His president asked.

If you had come few minutes earlier,
Kester said as he sobs like a baby.
She didn't even hear me out,
I couldn't tell her I was the one that raped her.
I couldn't make things right!
Kester crying as he puts his head on the laps of his president who was already sitting on the coach.
..... To be continued.

De-starching the Leaves of a Plant

De-starching the Leaves of a Plant 'De-starch (or Destarch) the leaves of a potted plant' is one of the preliminary steps in a  photosynthesis experiment . Biology students often ask the following questions about de-starching. What is  the definition of de-starching? Why it is necessary to de-starch the leaves of a plant before conducting photosynthesis experiments? What happens to the starch stores when the potted plant is deprived of light or carbon dioxide? How to de-starch the leaves of a plant? What is the definition of de-starching? De-starching is the process by which the starch reserves in a plant are depleted by depriving the plant of either light or carbon dioxide.  Why is it necessary to de-starch the leaves of a plant before conducting photosynthesis experiments? We test for the presence  of starch  in leaves in order to determine that photosynthesis has occurred. Glucose -  the product of photosynthe

Ethanol Emulsion Test for Fats and Oils

Ethanol Emulsion Test for Fats and Oils The  Ethanol Emulsion Test  is a  food test  which determines the presence of a broad group of naturally occurring compounds known as  lipids . Lipids consist of  fats  and  oils . Other lipid tests include the  Grease Spot Test  and the  Sudan Stain Test . The Grease spot test is performed on fats - lipids which are solid at room temperature. Sudan stain colours lipids red, but is a less common bench reagent than ethanol. The Ethanol Emulsion Test is the most common test amongst the three. Procedure Solid sample  Crush  the food sample and place in a dry test tube. Add ethanol  to about 2 cm3 above the level of the sample and shake thoroughly. Allow the solid to  settle  (about 3 min) to allow the lipid to be extracted. Decant  the ethanol into another test tube. Add 2 cm3 of  deionized water  to the second test tube Make observations. Liquid sample Add a  few drops  of the liquid food sample to a dry te
