When You Where There

*WHEN YOU WHERE THERE*
Episode 34.
All through the rest of the day, Felix couldn't eat.

He was so worried about Mona.

     He laid on his bed,
rolling from one end to the other, until it was night.

Mona on the other hand was unusually quiet and cold.
She didn't play with gold nor speak to anyone.

She laid on her bed and thought.

"I don't know how long I can keep my past away from Felix.

I have to avoid seeing him, she said aloud and wept.

   I can't avoid him,
He seems to be the only family I have right now.

But my past is my worst horror.
I don't even want to remember it, especially that it left me with a scar.
Mona thought with tears in her eyes and her phone began to ring.

    It was Felix calling.

Felix could not bear the silence so he decided to call.

It's 9:pm and Mona managed to pick. Cleaning the tears from her eyes as though Felix was going to see her.

    Hello sir,
Mona's voice came through.

   Are you OK?
Felix asked with a very cool tone.

  Yes I am,
And am sorry for what happened today,
Mona apologized.

   Am sorry too,
Felix replied and  they where both silent.

  Hope you are fine??
They both said the same time and bursted out laughing.

   I asked first,
Mona argued.

   No I did.
It's lady's first, so you first reply.
Felix insisted.

   Am OK,
Mona laughed and said.

   So am I,
Felix responded.

Your happiness is my priority Mona,
Felix went on.

   What happened today??
I don't want to ever witness it,
I can't stand your tears Mona.
Felix said so softly.

And am sorry I had to be the one to make you cry.
Felix added.

For every tears I made you shed today Mona,
I'll replace it with 100 fold laughter,
I promise.
Felix said and Mona was quite, smiling at her end.

Those words melted her heart but she tried not to show it.

When ever you are ready to tell me all about you, I'll be here waiting patiently,

And for the person that caused you such pain, and make a queen cry,
By the time I find out, I'll sue the person.
Felix joked and Mona giggled.

  Can I tell you something?
Mona said, smiling through the phone and Felix could tell.

   Yes my dear,
Felix responded, smiling too.

   Right now,
I've got no one to call a family except you,
No father,
No mother,
No brother or sister,
Just gold.

The only family I had left was grandma,
And my negligence made her health deteriorated, until I finally lost her.
Mona said and paused.

  Am not letting you go
'cos I don't wanna lose you Felix,
You are my only family now, and my brother too.
Mona concluded.

   Felix couldn't help it!
Those words from Mona made tears fall down his eyes.

   Am here for you,
Felix struggled to speak.
I ain't going no where,
Felix added.

   Thanks,
Mona said and cried silently.

They where both silent for a minute.
Then Mona spoke.

Have you had something to eat??
She asked.

   No I couldn't eat,
I lost my appetite and it's because of you,
Can you help me find it?
Felix joked.

   Well,
Its a good thing because I too couldn't eat,
So its mutual,
Mona replied laughing.

   You can't even pet me,
Felix quarreled.

   While Mona was just laughing.

OK, please try and get something to eat,
Those ascaris in your stomach must be really starving.
Mona joked.

    Oh,
So it's about the worms and not me??
Felix said and they both laughed.

They joked and joked on phone and find it difficult to say goodbye.

Don't your card ever get exhausted?
Mona asked.

   No!
At least not when am talking to you.
Felix replied.
They both laughed and eventually managed to say goodbye.

..... To be continued.

De-starching the Leaves of a Plant

De-starching the Leaves of a Plant 'De-starch (or Destarch) the leaves of a potted plant' is one of the preliminary steps in a  photosynthesis experiment . Biology students often ask the following questions about de-starching. What is  the definition of de-starching? Why it is necessary to de-starch the leaves of a plant before conducting photosynthesis experiments? What happens to the starch stores when the potted plant is deprived of light or carbon dioxide? How to de-starch the leaves of a plant? What is the definition of de-starching? De-starching is the process by which the starch reserves in a plant are depleted by depriving the plant of either light or carbon dioxide.  Why is it necessary to de-starch the leaves of a plant before conducting photosynthesis experiments? We test for the presence  of starch  in leaves in order to determine that photosynthesis has occurred. Glucose -  the product of photosynthe

Ethanol Emulsion Test for Fats and Oils

Ethanol Emulsion Test for Fats and Oils The  Ethanol Emulsion Test  is a  food test  which determines the presence of a broad group of naturally occurring compounds known as  lipids . Lipids consist of  fats  and  oils . Other lipid tests include the  Grease Spot Test  and the  Sudan Stain Test . The Grease spot test is performed on fats - lipids which are solid at room temperature. Sudan stain colours lipids red, but is a less common bench reagent than ethanol. The Ethanol Emulsion Test is the most common test amongst the three. Procedure Solid sample  Crush  the food sample and place in a dry test tube. Add ethanol  to about 2 cm3 above the level of the sample and shake thoroughly. Allow the solid to  settle  (about 3 min) to allow the lipid to be extracted. Decant  the ethanol into another test tube. Add 2 cm3 of  deionized water  to the second test tube Make observations. Liquid sample Add a  few drops  of the liquid food sample to a dry te
